So, new Dan Brown book out tomorrow...thought I'd start a thread so that people could discuss anything about it here.
Who's going to be buying it? I feel kind of obligated to in order to write about it here, but at the same time I've sworn to myself that I would never pay for one of that hack's books...so there is a dilemma here. I think if I do buy it, it will be done in order to stop ten or twenty others from making the same mistake!!
What do we think, good or bad for Freemasonry? Or just indifferent...

Oh, and by the way - I have decided to keep my promise and never give Dan Brown a single undeserved cent. So you won't be seeing a review of the book here, although I may bring up discussion of various topics that arise from the book on the web and in the press.
I just couldn't bring myself to do it!

I think that, based on the wikipedia entry and snipppets from the first chapter, it just seems like anyother Dan Brown "novel", the formula's exactly the same as "Angels and Demons" and his conception of Freeemsonry is confused, garbeled, and incoherant. Its not particularly good for Freemasonry, but at the same time it's not bad either. In short, it's rather a non entity, just another generic, formulaic, trash holiday read

It's not the best-written book with several errors and clumsy prose. It will, however, translate well into a Hollywood film. It is not negative towards Freemasonry.
I received an unsolicited copy as a high quality PDF. My feelings about breach of copyright discourage me from reading it, and I'm certainly not going to buy a copy.

Interestingly, there doesn't seem to be the intense interest that was associated with The Da Vinci Code. That book was negative towards the Catholic Church and Opus Dei and that might have helped it to sell. However, as the latest book is not negative towards Freemasonry, perhaps that is why there isn't the interest. Good news doesn't sell, does it?
I have not read it yet but I might do. However I would rather not pay for it so if anyone fancies lending me a copy when they have I finished that would be excellent.

I think what you are saying rjgs certainly rings true - there is little controversial material here, and thus the media hype already seems to be dying down. The book has fallen from the top selling spot - whilst certainly no sign of failure having already broken sales records in the first week, does suggest that this latest book will disappear from media interest in a relatively short time.
What is interesting is that now we have Dan Brown coming out and saying how much respect he has for Freemasonry and how highly he thinks of it. Would have been nice to say this before the book was released...but of course, that wouldn't have fit into the marketing plan.
